Surrealism and Magic Realism today.
At the end of July 2014, I participated in another elective seminar as part of my art study program. The topic was Surrealism and Magic Realism. I found both art styles highly fascinating. The course was taught by Prof. Hannes Baier.
As usual, we started off with a thorough theoretical introduction out of the wealth of knowledge of Prof. Baier. I was especially inspired by Pittura Metafisica of Giorgio De Chirico and also by René Magritte.
Afterward, we tried to apply the new insights into our own paintings. In view of the upcoming exhibition with the title “Dance of Trees,” they were the main actors in my paintings of this course.
