Austrian Lakescapes – Exhibition 2019.

In fall 2019 a small but nice exhibition of my series “Austrian Lakescapes in palette knife technique” took place in the Kuchltheater in Bad Ischl (Upper Austria). The rustic restaurant with original delicacies at the Kreuzplatz in Ischl allowed the hanging of ten paintings from this series.

On September 27, 2019 we celebrated the opening and the paintings were on display until the end of the year.

I started the series Austrian Lakescapes in palette knife technique already in 2015 when I was on a “Kur” near the Weissensee. I have some childhood memories associated with the Weissensee, especially the Ronacher Rock. Since I started the series during my “Kur”, I chose the format 12 x 16 inches for most of the paintings. Even that size was already a challenge on the small tables in the room. Most of the paintings were taken from photos of shot by me and others.

Soon after I moved to Strobl am Wolfgangsee I extended the series with some paintings around the Wolfgangsee – a view from Ried which belongs to St. Gilgen, a view from Abersee to the Schafberg and two sunsets seen from Strobl. Finally, the series included paintings of lakescapes from all over Austria – from east to west – from Lake Neusiedl to Lake Constance.

As the owner of the Kuchltheater told me, many visitors were not aware that it was an exhibition because the paintings fit so well into the surroundings.

The paintings of this series are also the theme of my fine art calendar for 2020, of which a few remaining copies are still available.
